“Some Good Intentions Don’t Work Out”

Hi Joe,

Just curious how long after I get off the house mortgage that I co-signed will it take so I can get my own home loan? I would like to start looking for a home as soon as possible. Unfortunately this process has taken far too long, I suppose it serves me right, I should never have co-signed. Do you see any potential issues with his ability to get the mortgage?

A few years ago, when these folks originally came to me for a mortgage, I didn’t like the idea of this loan being co-signed, especially since he was able to qualify on his own and let it be known. There were too many signs of a bad relationship. Both were convinced that the relationship was all good. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out the way they expected it would.

Good morning, Joe Petrowsky I have NEVER been a fan of co-signing.... I've never co-signed for any of my children.... I either gave them the money to buy a home and with two of them I had them sign a second mortgage and recorded it after the closing....

Good morning Joe. Never been a fan of being a co-signor. Usually ends up bad! Enjoy your day!

Good morning Joe. Too bad. I don't believe in co-signing: never knew it to work out.
