“You Were Right”

 

 

When anyone wants to refinance I ask a lot of questions. One of the areas has to do with how long the client is planning on owning the current property. Depending on what they share I may recommend that a refinance not be done, as a refinance has a cost.

 

You were right, we should have listened. We are looking to move sooner than we expected, which is what you thought might happen, but we made the decision to refinance. Not a good decision on our part, but now we need your help again, we want to buy another home. We will need a referral for a Realtor and home inspector.

You are top notch my friend. In advance, looking forward to us working together again, let me know what you need, so that you can do a pre-qualification?

 

After reading their email I was a little annoyed with myself that I didn’t push them harder not to refinance, as I did their original loan 7 months ago.

I guess none of this makes any difference at this point. I need to focus on what is next.

Joe, I always ask a seller why did you refinance last year when you knew you were selling this year?  The answer is always we wanted the lower rate...the lender always cares about their fee & doesn't do right by them...I find it rampant unfortunately.  I am glad you ask.

Joe, you are right, borrowers do not consider what they are paying and how long it will take to make up the new expenses.

You are "top notch", as they said Joe Petrowsky.   All we can do is put the facts, and the costs, on paper in front of them but ultimately; it is their decision whether to proceed.   Hopefully, they will pay better attention to the master going forward.

I thought this blog from the title would be about how the customer was right because I always use that phrase with my clients. Are they right? It depends . . . but I'd rather they be right in their eyes when they're wrong than coming back to tell me I was right all along.
