“I got Caught up in the Super bowl Hype”

“I got Caught up in the Super bowl Hype”

I was watching the Super bowl and saw an ad for rocket mortgage, so I decided to pick up the phone. I knew that I was going to begin to look for a home in the spring. I ended up leaving my name and some brief information and thought this was going to be pretty simple.

One of my buddies watched me and eventually told me you are wasting your time and gave me your contact information, telling me that you did the mortgage for him and his fiancé. I just told him, we’ll see.

What a joke this experience this has been, it’s probably a good thing he gave me your information as I probably would have postponed my looking for a home this spring.

When can we meet, I want the same kind of coaching and support you gave Roger? You can email me back or call me at 413 XXX XXXX.

I was recently meeting with an account rep for Quicken. They are the creators for Rocket Mortgage and he made an interesting comment. He said he was afraid that this could be the end of the loan officer as we know it.

So, what do you think?

They have deep pockets and limited knowledge, but its the new paradigm of marketing to milennials I fear, as they are easily marketed.

Good morning Joe. There have been many schemes over the years to streamline the process. The result, more opportunity for the independent mortgage broker. Enjoy your day!

Hi Joe.  I cringe when I see the ads for Rocket Loans.  This is a very clear case of misrepresentation.

Oh please. I had an offer for a listing with from a buyer approved by Quicken Loan. I told the agent that my seller would like to see a pre-qual letter from a local mortgage broker..

I never heard from the agent again.

Joe, it all depends upon who is at the other end of the mortgage line...I still believe that the local mortgage lender will be tried & true and survive well.

I have a condo listed for an 80+ year old couple.  They also own a home in my neighborhood.  I was very surprised when they told me they were refinancing their home through Quicken Loan.

Good morning Joe,

I have had only one deal out of six that ended with them as the bank!

We do not allow our buyers or Buyers for our listings to blast off with the Rocket...or Quicken...not soooo quick.

I don't think so Joe - every deal is different and while I appreciate how technology can improve the way we serve our clients, I don't think the folks at Quicken can factor all of the different things we do to help each client into a computer program.

Joe, I did see the ad for Rocket Mortgage, and has been on commercials since, will have to pay more attention.

Every once in a while I have a client who does not do what I say and use my guy. I deal.  I'm never happy about it and I warn buyers of potential problems.  9 out of 10 times they apologize for not listening to me before it's over.

Hi Joe Petrowsky Quicken is looking for their share of the mortgage market, for sure, BUT they can't get it all.

Joe, the Rocket Mortgage commercials are attention grabbing. Like all big box advertising ... most simply cannot deliver.

Joe,

I was wondering about Rocket Mortgage, and it was evident by their branding that hype was the main ingredient...I have been deluged with all kind of "lender" emails offers, and most of them are along the same line.  A

Buyers just don't know any better so they get sucked in, but at least they have us Realtors to set them straight. If they don't get it right away, they learn sooner or later to listen to us.

I used Quicken when we were building our home here in West Virginia. Once construction was completed, Quicken was there...When we got to the closing table and we were told that they have it has a interest only mortgage. I can't tell you how mad I was....the attorney gave me the docs and sent me to a local person...this was on a Friday...we closed the following Tuesday with a loan at 4% interst.

I tell my buyers to if at all possible use a local person or a referral that someone has used and know they are good and will listen.
