“Referring Some Mortgage Clients Elsewhere is Best for Them”

Joe, thanks again for passing along this referral and opportunity for the bank.

Ryan, feel free to call me at your convenience so we can discuss the opportunity to fund your next multi-family purchase.

Joe thanks again for passing along the opportunity.

Have a great day!

Ryan is an attorney and referral partner. He was a bit surprised when I let him know that I was going to refer him to a loan officer at a bank. I have referred my clients that invest in multifamily homes there as they do a much better job than what I can do for him.

This bank keeps all of these loans in their portfolio and doesn’t require the reserves that most of the lenders that I use do. They also work the debt ratio completely different. So for Ryan this is a much better option.

All these referrals I give out I see as a deposit in good will and I’m not worried about what I might get back.

Good morning Joe.  Knowing who and when to refer clients is 90% of the battle. Sounds like you have your priorities in order, that is what is best for the client.  Of course IMHO you always have that in mind.

Hi Joe Petrowsky A portfolio lender ALWAYS has an advantage over a mortgage company.  Good choice.

I had a lender refer a buyer to me this week. Yesterday, the buyer found a home. When I called the lender for the pre-qual letter to go along with the offer, he said "I'm so glad I referred them to you." Music to my ears.

This bank should probably be sending you a referral fee, Joe, or at least offering a country club golf membership to you.

It's always a sign of a true pro when they have no fear in sending business elsewhere. Our main goal should always be to provide people with the best possible outcome. Sometimes, that means sending them elsewhere. Bravo, Joe.

This is a good lesson to share. Building long term relationships sometimes means referring business to others.
