“Do You Also Do Refinances?”

“Do You Also Do Refinances?”

I often times just assume that when I do a mortgage for someone that is purchasing a home that they just know that we also do refinances, but that is just not the case.

Earlier this year I started telling clients that if there is ever a reason to refinance that we do that as well. This practice started when one of my past clients called and told me that they needed a new pre-qualification as they were planning on moving.

When I ran a new credit report, I could see that they refinanced the previous year so I asked them about it. They actually didn’t think that I did refinances and only did mortgages for purchases.

So when Jerry called and asked if we did refinances, again I was surprised but understand that people don’t know so it is my job to keep educating them.

“Who else do you know that needs my help?”

Good morning Joe.  If you don't tell people they will just assume, and you know what that means

Hi Joe.  I think we all assume that potential clients know what we do.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

We have something similar happen too. When a condo or home is not available at a particular community, we sometimes hear: "Oh, I didn't think you covered any other area"...

That is really interesting.  I wonder why so many don't realize that.  Maybe it's something to include in your newsletter.

Good morning Joe Petrowsky ,

You are right..often someone gets a call about refinancing that sounds so good they make the decision to move forward with calling back the loan officer who did the mortgage! You do need to tell them even at closing..if you ever need to refinance..call me!

Is there something more you need to do to get the word out that you also do refinancing and not just mortgages Joe?

Hi Joe: We can never assume that people know what we are doing. I tell people all the time that I am a real estate broker...again and again.

People also don't understand I can refer them to an excellent agent anywhere in the country. We need to continue to communicate what we can do!

Joe, I too get calls from clients asking who to call for a refinance, rather than call the lender that did their mortgage.

Good morning Joe. Really good point. People don't know what we do unless we tell them and then remind them too.

Yes Joe Petrowsky you know what they say about Assumptions? If we assume something, then it makes an ass out of you and me.

Good morning, Joe --- there's a good lesson here --- we always need to be telling and reminding people of the services we handle.

Joe - I guess we can not assume that people know what we might think is obvious

Hard to imagine, but I guess we shouldn't assume anything.

Joe this is such an excellent point.  What seems should be common knowledge to us, is not to everyone.  We need continually be letting people know what we do.  Make it a great day.  Mark

Joe valuable lesson on why we can never assume, no matter how obvious it may seem.

I can see that some people wouldn't get it and need to be told several times over. It is a good practice to tell them and remind them.
