“Very Smart In House Loan Officer”

“Very Smart In House Loan Officer”

A few months ago I received a call from a guy who is an In-House loan officer at a very large Realtor office. He told me he had been reading my blogs on Linkedin for a number of months and liked my “messages”. I thanked him for his kind words.

He then told me that he would like to refer a transaction over to me that he and his company could not do. He also let me know he wasn’t willing to be altruistic about it; he just wants to be in good relationships with the Realtors that he serves. Pretty smart I’d say!

Since that time I have received one referral every couple of weeks but here is the best part, he checks in with me on a regular basis to see how the transactions are going. That is very smart on his part as he also follows up with the Realtor that is involved with the sale.

I got a call from him this morning thanking me as I received a call from a Realtor referral that he had originally sent to me over a year ago who was sending the same client back to me. However it turns out this is a loan that he can do so I sent the Realtor and clients back his way. Sure, I could have done the loan but I just don’t see that it would have been the right thing to do.

Loyalty means a lot and this loan officer understands it a little better now. What would you have done?

You did the right thing by referring the person back to the loan officer.I am sure there are many who would not have done it.

Good morning Joe Petrowsky,

You have a good partner for referrals. The model you are using is going to be duplicated because you are showing him how it works. You did the right thing!

Good morning Joe,

One hand washes the other and it is not a one way street out there.

Great job.

Make yourself a great day.

Share and share alike...rather than taking the "I can do anything you can do better" atttude os well received by referral sources...and as of course you know, will bring, more "later, rinse and repeat" on his part.

Loyalty does mean a lot and I expect it will mean much more for your business in the future that you sent them back.

Joe that was a very smart thing to do on your part.  One deal is not worth the many more future ones which you will continue to receive.

Absolutely; send it back Joe Petrowsky.   If I ever find a better deal with another lender, I send the client there.   My loyalty is to my clients.

In turn, I often receive referrals from them because they know I will treat the referred client professionally.
