“Very Smart In House Loan Officer”
A few months ago I received a call from a guy who is an In-House loan officer at a very large Realtor office. He told me he had been reading my blogs on Linkedin for a number of months and liked my “messages”. I thanked him for his kind words.
He then told me that he would like to refer a transaction over to me that he and his company could not do. He also let me know he wasn’t willing to be altruistic about it; he just wants to be in good relationships with the Realtors that he serves. Pretty smart I’d say!
Since that time I have received one referral every couple of weeks but here is the best part, he checks in with me on a regular basis to see how the transactions are going. That is very smart on his part as he also follows up with the Realtor that is involved with the sale.
I got a call from him this morning thanking me as I received a call from a Realtor referral that he had originally sent to me over a year ago who was sending the same client back to me. However it turns out this is a loan that he can do so I sent the Realtor and clients back his way. Sure, I could have done the loan but I just don’t see that it would have been the right thing to do.
Loyalty means a lot and this loan officer understands it a little better now. What would you have done?
