“You Helped Me When No One Else Would”

“You Helped Me When No One Else Would”

I did a mortgage for Mini in 2005, it was a subprime loan, at the time was 7.5%. This mortgage had been in existence for 10 years and just got paid off with the sale of the property.

After the loan was done that many years ago, I had not heard from the client, until yesterday. I didn’t remember the circumstances at the time, but we got the client a mortgage, based on credit, income and not sure what else.

Mini called me to thank me for the mortgage I got for her at the time. She kept saying that I keep telling anyone that will listen, “I tell them that you are a good man and color doesn’t matter to you, you helped me when no one else would”. WOW, you just never know the impact you make on another human being.

She told me she walked out of the closing today with over $51,000, the most money she had ever seen and was now going to live with her daughter in Georgia.

I love what I do for a living, sure there are times that it I can get frustrating, but a call like I got from Mini, it makes it all worthwhile.

hi Joe Petrowsky Even a high priced sub-prime loan can produce very good results, especially when no one else is interested in helping.

Wonder what she means by Color Doesnt Matter.  Were you a little green that day???

This is a great story.  This is what the intent of the sub-prime loans should have been from day one.  To help those who otherwise would not have had a chance at home ownership.

Obviously, you looked at her character (along with credit, income, etc.) and NOT her color and she recognized that.   Kudos to you Joe Petrowsky  !

I was wondering what she meant by color doesn't matter too. Sounds like she felt she was discriminated against but not for having bad credit, which was probably the crux. Not to mention, it's harder to make a loan for a person with bad credit, and there's often not much money in it for the originator but we all do pro bono now and then.

Hi Joe Petrowsky ,  It's a shame when people choose who they will and won't work with.  The Real Estate Industry, with it's High standards treats everyone the same. That was nice of her to share her experience with everyone.  Great job!
