“The Moral of the Story, Not All Credit Reports are Created Equal”

I have been coaching these folks for nearly a year. Their credit scores where much lower when we got started and they have been make progress. I got this email from them and the scores they were getting on their own, just weren’t making any sense.

hi joe. we've done everything for Kim's score. She got credit cards shes making her payment on time, school loan on time and cought up. it been almost a 8 months now and 2 of her score are high 650's is only one experian doesnt want to improve her score, its stuck at 610 ish. she has called several time and they won't review or improve her score but the other 2 places go up regular every month, we really want to get out of this house were in now its way to high for are budget. can you do another check on are scores specially hers. so we can move forward. or were stuck here for another 6 months? thanks scott and kim

When I did a report the scores were much higher, to the point it was time to give them a pre-qualification, they have made great strides, now it is time to find a home to own instead of keep paying rent. Very often when you get something for nothing, that is about what it is worth.

Who else do you know that needs my help?

Well I bet they were happy to get that piece of paper.  Listening and following directions does go a long way.

Hi Joe Petrowsky ,  Your exactly right.  If they don't seek a professional, they can run into problems.  That goes for a Loan Officer and a Real Estate Agent.  Many Sellers that want to do everything themselves end up hiring an agent in the end and the Buyers that use FSBO's without an Agent usually end up in trouble.

Hello Joe Petrowsky

Good for them, the hard work has paid off and what a nice surprise for them that their "free" score was not the accurate one.

This story gives others hope! Often times, people just can't figure things out and they need a little hope. Those that are smart enough to reach out to you will always see a light at the end of the tunnel and get a best friend too.

Good Morning Joe: There are buyers who need serious help to get out of the situation they are in.. either owning a new home or moving up or down.

I am happy to hear that you have been patient in assisting them.

I wish all loan officers will do the same thing but you know well that is not the case.

Hi, Joe. What do you think was causing the disparity between the reports?

Posted by Debbie Laity, Your Real Estate Resource for Delta County, CO (Cedaredge Land Company) about 4 years ago

So glad this couple listened to you. It's a matter of getting into good habits to get your score up and the incentive of buying a home and saving on rent is enormous. Good for you.
