“I’m Stuck in the Airport”

“I’m Stuck in the Airport”

Originally I misread the ticket. I read the flight number instead, which was 1142 instead of the actual time of 1:52. OK, no big deal I will catch up and get some blogs done.

Finally we boarded at 1:30. We pull back from the gate and sit; we sit until 2:30. This is not a good sign. Finally they say that we are next to take off and we wait some more. Finally the pilot says we have to go back to the gate as we have an electrical issue. We were instructed that we needed to deplane in case the issue can’t be fixed. As I’m getting off the plane, there are lots of unhappy people.

As I’m heading back inside I spot the pilot and headed over to shake his hand and thank him for taking good care of us. “Wow, I really appreciate you saying that.” he said. I told him, I’d rather fly in a plane that will get us there safely. “Thank you again he said, you made my day.”

We were just told we are boarding in about 20 minutes. That means we are leaving about three hours late. I got three hours of blogging done. Life is good!

Good morning Joe,

Some people know how to make the best of a situation and others color the air blue!

Way to give the pilot something to talk about while waiting at the next problem.

Make yourself a great day.

Joe Petrowsky There are always at least two ways to approach an issue. You made that pilot's day. Good flying!

Always a positive outlook for a weary soul! Flying can make you incredibly exhausted but we always pray that the pilot is on his or her toes!

Joe - I just plan on this when I go to the airport.  I bring my iPad and get lots done.  What's even better is on plane wifi.

Joe, I definitely would rather deplane and have the plane repaired and know you get to your destination!

Joe,

Love how you made good use of your time.  Given all the travel we do, this kind of stuff happens every now and then.  Like you, I am happy that they want to make sure the plane is safe to fly in.  No one really like delays.  We end up catching up on our mail, and usually we have a bunch of blogs scheduled when we travel...We do read bunches of books.  A

Awesome way to look on the upside of the situation. I think you thanking the pilot was exactly the opposite of what he expected, and I am sure that made his day! This is the good kind of energy we should be sharing with one another!

"Every cloud has a silver lining" as the old saying goes.   Glad you saw that in the pilot's actions.   Better on the ground than experiencing the problem when you were in those clouds.
