“I Won’t Ever be Able to Buy a Home”
Divorce can create a lot of issues before, during and after. This was the case for Paulette. As part of her divorce decree her ex was responsible for all the credit card obligations and an auto loan but he never handled them. It seemed he was going to figure out how to make life as miserable as possible.
When I was introduced to Paulette, she shared that she wanted to eventually buy a home but she just didn’t see that in her future. She told me that her credit was trashed and didn’t see any way to ever be a homeowner.
I seldom recommend that anyone file bankruptcy, but this was an exception. There was $35,000 in obligations on her credit and paying them was not going to be an option. After consulting with an attorney that I had recommended, she made the decision.
27 months after the BK discharge, Paulette is a homeowner. It was a long road for sure but definitely worth the journey. I got this from her, life is good:
Thank you very much for all your help and perseverance, it’s hard to believe, but with your help, my children and I now have a home, one we can call our own.
