“I wasn’t Aware that Blogging has an Age Connected to it”

“I wasn’t Aware that Blogging has an Age Connected to it”

I had lunch with two newbie real estate agents the other day. They were both referred by their office manager. A number of Realtors in that office already send mortgage business my way, so the manager wanted them to meet with me.

They were both very excited and seemed to have their heads on straight. They know that it isn’t easy to get started in the business. We talked about their training, which I thought was very good and social media. A lot of emphasis was on blogging and building a social media presence. I was starting to understand why the manager wanted them to meet with me.

They already knew that I did a lot of blogging; they had seen some of my blogs already. They wanted to know how I got started and one made the comment about blogging at my age, as they thought it was for younger folks. They told me they were encouraged to go after the Millennial first time home buyer.

I asked them if they would turn down a listing from a senior that may always want to downsize. I asked them if they felt that the only mortgages I should do was reverse mortgages. They said they have a lot to learn.

It was great meeting with them. I believe I gave them some good coaching, but we’ll see what direction they will take their blogging efforts.

This meeting was a good learning for me and I told them that. So, I wonder how the public perceives the person sharing a blog. Are they judged by how they look, how old they seem to be or the knowledge they have?

What are your thoughts about the question?
