“The Judge Says Refinance or Put Your Home on the Market”
An attorney from Massachusetts contacted me after reading one of my blogs. The blog was on Linkedin, the topic was getting a refinance done, as a result of a divorce decree. Some of these situations can be a real challenge and that is exactly what the attorney said.
He told me that his client was in contempt of the decree as he was supposed to refinance over a year ago. I told him I would be glad to speak with him.
It turns out that he could never qualify based on his debt ratio. I ran all his number and explained to him a refinance could be done, only if his alimony was reduced to make the ratios work. After I did a conference call, including the attorney the numbers.
They went back to court and worked out a new agreement to reduce the alimony, as it was more important to get her name off the mortgage than the additional monthly dollars. Once I had the new numbers to work with, the refinance was now possible and the goal was accomplished.
Joe I would like to wish you and yours a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Thank for getting the refi done. A SERIOUS load off me.
